Nightscape Press is proud to announce our two newest upcoming releases! Release date is October 14th for both electronic and trade paperback editions.

Click to pre-order The Big Tree by Rick Hautala on AmazonIn this beautiful and chilling tale, Rick Hautala moves us with a coming of age story like no other. It’s 1960. A young boy and his friends spend most of their time in the treehouse they built in The Big Tree in front of Old Lady Wayrenen’s front yard.

But when Hurricane Donna comes, it leaves more than just a trail of property damage. A chain of events pushes the natural and supernatural worlds at odds with one another and a young girl’s life hangs in the balance. But is she even real?

Combined with the words and artwork of some of Mr. Hautala’s dearest friends: Christopher Golden (Foreword), Thomas F. Monteleone (Afterword), and Glenn Chadbourne (cover art); The Big Tree is one of Rick’s most autobiographical and personal stories from the heart.

Rick’s last unpublished work, The Big Tree, coming in October as an ebook

thebigtreeThe Big Tree is now available for pre-ordering as a Kindle ebook from Nightscape. Here’s what Holly said about it on Facebook:

THE BIG TREE is Rick’s last unpublished work. I knew he was working on it, but did not know he had sent it off to Nightscape until after he died. They have done a wonderful job with this novella, and I am also grateful to Christopher Golden, Glenn Chadbourne, and Tom Monteleone for their contributions. So – enjoy Rick’s final work!

Rick’s last novella to be published by Nightscape Press

Rick’s novella The Big Tree will be published by Nightscape Press.  Rick’s last novella is a poignant story in the best Hautala tradition—brooding and dark.  Drawing deeply on his childhood, it is a story set during Hurricane Carol, which pummeled New England in 1955.   Publication date TBA. We’ll have more information later….
